Preparing to Re-Open

As we have heard in recent weeks, Dr. Bonnie Henry is preparing to lift certain safety precautions as the number of vaccinations increase and the number of covid-19 cases decrease. We are already beginning to see the beginnings of this.

Recently, social gatherings of up 10 are being permitted outdoors. It is important to note that this be considered your consistent group of 10, not various groups of 10 (essentially a bubble of 10 at this time). This provides opportunity for Life Groups to consider meeting outdoors if the group agrees to be one another's "bubble."

Dr. Bonnie Henry has indicated a desire to see religious gatherings re-opened, perhaps in some manner for Easter. We do not yet know the timing of this or what the parameters will be. In the meantime we are preparing for this possibility. This work is challenging because we have to prepare for several scenarios simultaneously -- but it is worth the work because the prospect of being together again is so exciting. Whenever we do re-open, we will do so with two Sunday morning services.

Through this all, we remain committed to cooperating with public health guidelines with your health and the safety of the whole Comox Valley in mind. We are blessed to have the professional input of two doctors from CPC who sit on our Re-Opening Team. I am grateful for their guidance.

We will continue to keep you updated on new developments via our social media and in our Sunday live-streamed services as plans become clear.

In-Person gatherings suspended...

We have some very important updates to share with you. As you may have already heard, our provincial health officer issued a new order today.

These new safety precautions give us all opportunity to A) put the health of others first, B) assist in further preventing an outbreak in our community, and C) to stand in solidarity with other areas of our province that have been hit hard by COVID-19 recently.

Today's new orders impact our church in the following ways:

In-person attendance of Sunday services are suspended until further notice. Services will continue to be live-streamed here on Sundays at 9:50am for the children's component, followed by our regular service at 10am.

Small Groups, Youth and Children's Ministry that have been happening on site are suspended until further notice. We will be providing online experiences for youth and children and encourage Life Groups to continue their connection with short, regular Zoom meetups.

All other in-person activities are suspended until further notice

The church office will remain safely staffed and open, although hours may be adjusted.

We are working to make sure communication gets to as many as possible. You can help by forwarding this information, phoning or texting some friends, or sharing CPC's social media posts.

As your pastors, Laura and I are thinking of how this impacts many of you. Many handle changes like this positively, with faith, and trusting that in due time we will be back together again. Others, though, feel sadness and concern. And this matters to us as well. We want to encourage you all to reach out to one another with care and prayer. As needs arise, please let us know. Stay tuned for more updates from our team.

We are praying for you. May we all continue to embrace the way of Christ in putting the needs and concerns of others ahead of our own.

Please join us in endeavoring to love our neighbours -near and far- well.

STAY CONNECTED

March 2020

MESSAGE FROM CPC PASTORS AND LEADERSHIP:

In our ever changing world we are still here for you. While our country feels like it is shutting down, out of necessity and wisdom, we are still here to connect, pray and love one another. Jesus has not closed shop, nor have we. We encourage you to follow all the guidelines and instructions set out for us by our Government and Health Authorities. While we can’t connect face to face, we can connect. There are many ways to do this:

1. Stay informed on our Comox Pentecostal Church Facebook page

2. Check back to this website for updates

3. Join us Sunday mornings at 10 am as we live stream our service

We look forward to staying in touch.

Please remember to give through our online giving. We appreciate your support.
