This summer we are featuring our mission partners. One of these partners is ERDO (Emergency Relief and Development Overseas).

ERDO is the humanitarian arm of the PAOC. It began in 1983 with the desire to meet the needs created by a massive drought and famine in Ethiopia. ERDO now serves children and families in 30+ countries of the world through crisis response, community development, child sponsorship, food programs, water programs, microfinance, and agricultural programs. Together with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, over one billion dollars has been raised to respond to natural disasters and areas ravaged by conflict and economic collapse. ERDO has been named a top Canadian charity by Maclean’s magazine, MoneySense magazine, and the Financial Post.

As other mission partners have shared, we can do here what they do overseas. Needs are not just in developing countries; there are many needs in the Comox Valley. CPC’s mission is to bring the message and ministry of Jesus into everyday life. Just as it is important to support missions of evangelism and church planting, bringing the message of Jesus, so it is vital to bring the ministry of Jesus by responding to other human needs. Through meeting needs, we bring the presence of Jesus to the people around us.

Jesus said, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)
