Dearly Beloved,
October is Pastor Appreciation Month in the church calendar. Comox Pentecostal Church has been blessed with Pastors who love and shepherd us with humility and grace.
Jeremiah 3:15 says “And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
We are so thankful to God for you all. For the seen and unseen sacrifices, for the prayers you lift to the Father on our behalf. For the love and commitment you carry for the flock in your care, we honour you. We thank you for your obedience to the work for which you were called by God to do. You lead us by opening the Word, and then you live your lives reflecting what you’ve learned from it. We are blessed by you in so many ways.
Last year, Clair Farnell wrote beautifully about the roles of our pastors here at CPC, highlighting Pastor Mike’s prayerful shepherding of the flock and his gift of teaching, and Pastor Laura’s passion for music ministry, among many other things. She spoke of Pastor Lorne’s wisdom and experience in so many areas of our church, including visitation and encouragement. We were also reminded of Pastor Clay’s enthusiasm and passion for the youth in our church and community. Last year at this time, we had hired Garrett and Abi Markham, but they had not yet started their work here at CPC, so here is a highlight of their time with us so far:
Pastor Garrett (Children & Families Pastor) and Pastor Abi (Pre-K Pastor) have dedicated themselves to teaching, guiding, and caring for the children in our congregation. They introduced a new curriculum that has the children engaged in learning as well as in worship, with lessons about God’s love and passion for His youngest followers. We appreciate so much Garrett and Abi’s patience and kindness; they have created a space where children are welcomed and safe, and where they feel seen, heard, and loved not only on Sundays but with summer camps as well. We have also had the great privilege of hearing both of them preach on occasion. They are truly gifted in so many ways!
May the Lord abundantly bless all of you for your faithfulness, refresh your strength daily, and surround you with peace and joy. May your labour in the Lord never be in vain, and may you always feel the love, gratitude, and prayers of those you serve. You are deeply appreciated for all you do.
