Dearly Beloved,

Throughout the summer, Dearly Beloved will feature testimonies from people across our CPC family. There's something powerful about hearing how Jesus has been at work in the lives of those among us, and we hope these stories encourage, challenge, and strengthen your own faith as we celebrate His goodness together!

Dear Church Family

I grew up in a Christian household, and my whole family went to church on Sundays. When I was younger, I mostly took being a believer for granted. I didn’t pay much attention to my faith, and I rarely prayed outside of before meals or the occasional family prayer at Christmas.

As I got older, some difficult family circumstances arose, and my parents separated. During that time, I stopped going to church for several years and slowly drifted away from God.

Then, in 2023, I was diagnosed with brain cancer. Throughout that journey, I received an incredible amount of support from so many people. I was constantly receiving messages from people telling me they were praying for me. Others would tell me that their churches, friends, and families were praying as well. Seeing so many people lift me up in prayer was something I had never experienced before.

During that time, God worked a miracle in my life. My tumor was cleared without the need for any invasive treatments. Through that experience, I began to see God’s hand at work and started to reconnect with Him. Surrounded by the support of friends, family, and the prayers of so many people, my faith grew stronger than it had been in years.

During and after my cancer journey, I started attending church and youth group in Toronto while spending time there with my cousins between treatments. Those experiences helped me continue growing in my relationship with God and showed me the importance of being part of a Christian community.

Today, I can honestly say that I am in the best place with God that I have been in for a long time. After moving to the Comox Valley, I found a great church and youth group where I have been able to continue growing in my faith.

Looking back, I can see how God was with me through every challenge, even when I had drifted away from Him. What started as one of the hardest seasons of my life became the way God drew me closer to Him, and for that, I am incredibly grateful.
