Dearly Beloved,

On September 27th, we introduced and commissioned CPC’s Volunteer Community Pastors. This role exists to enhance and extend pastoral presence, care, and connection throughout our church, with a special focus on Sundays.

If you’d like to talk with a pastor or have someone pray with you, look for the people wearing red Community Pastor tags. We also want you to get to know them, so this fall they’ll be sharing their stories in the Dearly Beloved section of the e-bulletin.

Hello friends and friends to be at Comox Pentecostal!

I'm Chris Gytenbeek, one of the new volunteer community pastors at CPC. A little bit about me: my wife, Judy, and I have been married 34 years and have been part of CPC for 19 years. We have four adult children who all live outside the Comox Valley. I'm enjoying life as a semi-retired person.

I'm passionate about Jesus and making him famous and known to those whose paths cross with mine. I love the family of God as it is represented as the church, wherever they meet with all its victories and warts. I believe it is the place for hurting, healing, restoration, as well as celebration and being family. Life is not meant to be walked through alone, we really need each other!

My focus of my faith always comes back to when Jesus quoted Deuteronomy in Matthew 22:37, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind." Once I can keep this as my life filter, everything else in life falls into place. All Jesus wants from me is to walk each day with him in fellowship. The perfect and pure example of this is Adam and Eve walking daily in the garden in the cool of the day, before they failed in following God's best plan for them. This world is far from Eden today, but if we look for God's hand in all that is good, we realize he's never far from us and is really here to bless and LOVE us!!

I'm looking forward to meeting you and sharing life together.
