"Raising children is easy because they are growing up in the same world we did" - said no one ever.
Ha!
Parents, and grandparents, have you noticed how different culture and society are today from when you and I were children?
Have you taken the time to imagine how challenging it must be for children growing up in today's world?
Have you wondered how you could leverage some of your experience, wisdom, and love to help your child or grandchild have the best opportunity to love and follow Jesus? (I sure hope you said YES to this one!).
Our church family is part of the Pentecostal Assembly of Canada (PAOC), a network with 1,000+ churches and over 100 years of history in our nation. Last week our fellowship met for a General Conference in Winnipeg. I did not go this year, but I wanted to share an important and helpful resource with you coming from the conference.
Shaila Visser is the National Director of Alpha Canada (you know, the excellent evangelism film series) and is a tremendous leader and speaker. Shaila spoke in a couple of sessions at our General Conference and I wanted to share one session with you.
Parents and grandparents: this. will. help. you.
Shaila shares with keen insight extremely helpful truth about our children and grandchildren, the world they are growing up in, and how this generation is approaching matters of faith. Her knowledge is expansive, and her wisdom is impressive and practical.
I know that for so many of you, the matters of your children's (or grandchildren's) faith in Jesus are of utmost importance.
True?
Parents and grandparents - I want to urge you to take a few minutes to put this video on in the background while you clean the kitchen or play the audio next time you're out for a drive. Even listening to the first 30 minutes will be very helpful for you. Be sure to catch some of her excellent responses in the Q&A portion.

I cannot imagine how you could regret this.
Unless, of course, you're finding that raising children is easy because they are growing up in the same world as you.
